In order to more fully support the needs of our Guard and Reserve service members, the TXNGFSF is continuing a project called Operation Urgent Care. There is a small but none-the-less important segment of service members in the Texas National Guard, and their families, who experience a critical gap in services that no agency or organization currently meets. This gap in services relates to funding for emergency or gap health insurance coverage for unemployed or underemployed Texas National Guard service members, including emergency funding for routine co-pays and catastrophic co-pays. This project provides temporary emergency assistance to soldiers for health insurance and related payments for themselves and for their family members.
1) To provide funds to meet emergency health-related financial needs of veterans and their families; and
2) To facilitate access to needed health services for veterans and their families.
The project specifically targets members of the Texas National Guard who meet the following criteria:
1. Are in good standing with the Texas National Guard, i.e., they are serving honorably, attending drills, etc.
2. Are enlisted soldiers or Non-commissioned Officers (NCOs).
3. Are unemployed or underemployed and unable to pay the premiums for TRS and TDP.
4. Are either:
a. Newly enlisted and eligible to enroll in TRS and TDP.
b. Demobilized from active duty and eligible to enroll in TRS and TDP.
5. Make application to the Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation for emergency assistance through “Operation Urgent Care.” Click here for application.
